It has been not easy transitioning back into school after three weeks off, which I think for a person of my habits is too long of a break. I feel so tired. Anyway my English class seems kind of interesting as the teacher is pretty excited about the subject and writing and he’s kind of this 30 something married with two kids surfer guy that teaches college english. I kind of immediately liked him when he said he dropped out of high school at 15 and told his parents he was going to be a poet, there is something incredibly lame and hilarious about that. Still him sharing that was kind of interesting I thought. He also sounds and have some mannerisms of my friend Clint, which I found odd. However making that connection gave me this gut feeling we would be reading Bukowski or be introduced to him somehow. Turns out, he’s assigned various writers on specific weeks for people to do presentations on to help the class learn about other writers and figure out what they’re about, lo and behold Week 8 was assigned to Bukowski, I didn’t really have to think twice about picking that week.
I’m fortunate that my electronic layout class is going to be consisting entirely of InDesign material as the previous quarter is had been about Quark and InDesign evenly, so thank god I don’t have to waste time on that. However the teacher is pretty lacking, he seems pretty unenthused about teaching anything to anyone, fortunately InDesign is a lot easier to grasp than Quark (in my opinion) and the only problems I might have is understanding what is due for homework.
I regret taking a graphic design history class for several reasons. Mainly because I knew the lectures would be long (I’ve had the teacher previously) I figured the course would require lots of reading (right again) and it is an evening class, ugh. The only redeeming things in the class are it is mostly a 8th quarter + class and so I have no annoying freshman and there are two distractingly attractive girls in the class, which I fear may drop the class by next week judging by their attention spans to the subject so it might be a completely fail.
So this quarter its four days of class in a row, not the schedule I want but then I don’t have to wake up super early. Tomorrow and the next day is digital illustration and a form & space class, which I have no idea what they are.
