Spring Break & Stuff

I got my grades in for the last quarter: two A’s and two B’s. I’m kind of surprised for the B+ in English, mainly because at mid-term I was at a B- so I guess I did better than I thought on the final. Now I’m kind of waiting for my schedule to be finalized and hope it doesn’t get changed around. I don’t think they will be posting the actual classroom numbers until the last minute though.
The century is coming up in like two weeks! I’m not sure if I’m prepared, but I think I can do it. I just need to eat and rest when we stop and keep it up, hydrate constantly. I think my biggest concern is just dealing with the few hours of heat since we’ll be starting at 10AM. Then depending on our pace I’ll have to bring clothes for when the sun goes down and it starts getting chilly. Fortunately, that might only have to be a jacket. I must remember sunscreen as well.
I ordered some wheels this weekend from a builder in Florida. They had a really good price on 32 hole Mavic Open Pro rims laced to Shimano Dura-Ace high-flange track hubs. But the guy called me up today and explained they accidentally built black rims, with black spokes to the hubs and I ordered silver with silver spokes. Normally I wouldn’t make an issue of this but they’re kind of pricey rims. For some reason the black rims cost more, I’m not sure why. I felt a little bad though because by choice (which is good and says a lot about him as a builder) he said he doesn’t like to break down wheels already made because after lacing a wheel, there are marks left on the hubs from the spokes, re-lacing spokes on top of that can weaken the hub. I also felt bad because he has to order another hubset and rush order it to ship it out to me within the week. Oh well, realistically its not my fault and if I’m going to spend $353 bucks I’d like to get what I ordered. I should get my wheels next week which is just enough time for the century… at least I think so.
I got my loan check in today to purchase my laptop. I’ve been much already made the decision to buy a macbook pro. By no means am I turning into an Apple fanboy (although it almost seems like I am headed in that direction) but completely realize the pros and cons behind getting a macbook. Weight and design is not emphasized enough with PC laptops in my opinion or if they are, hardware and performance suffers. Although Macbook pros are craaazy over priced, I think in terms of a laptop, having a good balance between weight, performance and good hardware is important and macbooks seem to acheieve this better than most. For $2500 I could easily buy a really suped up PC laptop with all the fixin’s and still have money left over probably, only thiing is it would be 15lbs, 2-3inches in thickness and have maybe 2-3 hours of battery life—not exactly travel friendly. The specs are better than my desktop system so it should perform fine in terms of designing at school and such. This would basically allow me to not have to use the computer labs which is nice–with the exception of printing. It’ll also provide some entertainment between and outside of classes.
I need some coffee.
