C O N V E R G E

So I haven’t been writing much or updating the blog very much. Nothing entirely crazy to write about. Although this weekend I did see Powerglove and Turisas. Powerglove being a band that does video game covers (including but not limited to) in metal fashion/style, dawning shoulder pads of death. Hailing from Massachusettes, I think some if not all members are Berkeley music grads or something. I first heard about them through a computer tech at my old work and instantly fell in love. They also pass out inflatable bats/swords during shows for epic pit battles.

Turisas being a “folk metal” or “battle metal” band from Finland. I can’t tell if they’re kidding or not but according to their site they are not (for the most part). Obviously their “no guitar solo” chant is poking fun at their very genre, but they are serious in reliving the music of a time when people weren’t afraid to negotiate deals after a couple pints of mead and a battle axe; just with added metal elements. They consist of: one guitar, one bass, one violin, one accordion and technically one keyboard player although does not tour with them.
